| Humor Therapy By Duffer What is Humor Therapy? What does this have to do with clowning? Definition Humor therapy is the art of using humor and laughter to help heal people with physical or mental illness. Source of definition: (http://articles.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_g2603/is_0004/ai_2603000435) Humor therapy is applied in many forms, but one form of this type of therapy is applied by clowns! There are many programs in existence that are exclusively designed to help heal with humor, where clowns visit children and elderly people with illnesses. There are many studies & articles out that say laughing lowers blood pressure, reduces stress hormones, increase muscle flexion and boosts immune function. It also uses the whole brain as apposed to one small part. Clowns these days have a big role in the health communities, both mainstream and alternative. The human body has the ability and potential to heal itself, it just needs a little assistance by outside sources! If you are interested in Humor Therapy as a clown check out the following links! I may be adding more to this page in the near future, as I am currently working on a school project with this subject! Important Resources:
